Style Me Up #4 - River Island Molly Leather Look Leggings

After declaring I now own a pair of Ross Geller leather trouser on Facebook I decided to carry on with my 'Style Me Up' series and show you how I'd wear my new purchase.

River Island Molly Leather Look Leggings - £35 (£20 sale)

Seeing Kristine, who writes over at My Bowl Cut, wearing these trousers made me green with envy. I NEEDED a pair, they went into the sale on River Island website and at £20, they were added to my basket without a second thought. Sadly they are now sold out online, ASOS still has them at full price, but otherwise check in your local store, they might still have a few pairs.

Topshop High Roller Tank Top - £12

A simple grey tee is the perfect accompaniment to the leather trousers, it will let the accessories do the talking and of course I love Topshop basics.

Zara Multicoloured Lace Up Sandal - £69.99

Zara can do no wrong in my book! These heels are AH-MAZING! They also come in black for those not so brave on the colour front.

Topshop Spike Hoop Earrings - £8.50

Grey being a 'cool' colour looks better with silver so I picked these spiked hoops.

TAG: Beauty Things I Suck At

I am not a qualified make-up artist or hairdresser, so my make-up and hair are less than perfect! For a beauty blogger I'm actually quite lazy, when it comes to perfecting my face and hair before leaving the house. Throwing my hair up and applying minimal make-up is my daily routine for uni.

I saw NikkiTutorials to the 'Beauty Things I Suck At', I thought its a really fun tag to do. Sometimes the beauty community can be a little competitive, I think this tag will show not everyone is perfect!

So here are the beauty things I suck at...

1. Liquid eyeliner

I cannot for the life of me get liquid eyeliner right. I either smudge the line or make the flicks wonky. Most of the time I just check they are 60% similar and whack loads of mascara on to hide it.

2. Over drawing my eyebrows

This doesn't happen everyday, but sometimes I have an off day where my brow misbehave. I just can't get them to match in shape, so I compensate with a little more here and there, trying to balance them out, in the end I get caterpillar/Scouse brows.

3. Messy hair

I'm guilty of not really bothering with my hair. I wish I could be one of those girls that has the perfect long curls, but 'ain't no body got time for dat'. My hair is naturally curly and unmanageable, up in a bun or ponytail it goes.

4. Dying my hair at home

I've recently had a hair dye disaster, I ended up with Morticia Addams hair after attempting to dye it brown. Must. Stop. Messing. Around. With. My. Hair.

5. Fake tan

Oh my, I've had some fake tan disasters. Being milk bottle white makes tanning hard, my face often doesn't blend in with the rest of my fake tanned skin. Note to self, buy a darker foundation with SPF, to prevent white face flash back.

Hair Trends for 2013

Every now and then I get stuck in a rut; I need to change something about myself. A little fickle I know but it’s nice to have a change and it gives me something to blog about! The one aspect of me I change the most is my hair. I've had blonde, brown, black, red and ginger hair colours. I've left it naturally curly, had it straight and smooth and even had hair extensions. 

I've been looking for some hair inspiration, researching the latest hair trends for this season. I might even try a few out, take pictures and blog about it, of course. 

Super Straight 

Derek Lam, Emilio Pucci and Marios Schwab, to name a few, created super sleek styles for their catwalk shows. Use hair oils like Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Penetrating Oil to stop fly aways and create smooth silky hair. If you have quite short hair, you can use clip in hair extensions to create model like lengths. 

Wet Look 

This is a hair trend I probably wouldn't try out myself, I think I’ll let editorial hair and beauty teams take this on board, it’s not for everyday! If you are more brave than myself and want to try the grunge gel look, pick up VO5’s Mega Hold Styling Gel and use a wide tooth comb to create this wet look style. 

Sexy 60’s 

Monochrome is back and the 60’s glam look came back with it, Marc Jacobs is a perfect example. His stylist team created bouffant hair styles for the models. To get that desired height to your beehive, use a volumising powder like Schwarzkopf’s got2b Volumising Style Powder, just sprinkle a little onto your roots and massage in.

Primark Spring Summer '13 Picks

I shop everywhere on the high street, Topshop to Zara, to H&M to Primark. Good old Primark is where I will pick up every day fashion bits and bobs. Yesterday I was browsing Cosmo's content and Primark's Spring/Summer collection was uploaded, I've picked out my favourites. I'm sitting here waiting for summer after having 8 inches of snow in my sleepy Welsh village.... HURRY UP SUMMER!

Colour B4 Extra Strength Review

I'd had enough of my unnatural orange ginger hair, it was time for a change but also factors like finishing uni and getting a job made me want a more sensible hair colour.

Before I touched any brunette hair dyes, I purchased Colour B4, the extra strength version. I needed to strip the unnatural orange pigment in my hair otherwise this would shine through under the brunette shade I wanted to be.

I'd tweeted ,(@cherriesbeauty) about trying Colour B4 and got plenty of responses stating that it smelt horrible but worked like a dream. I was a little apprehensive but I decided to go for it, time for a change I thought!

Here is what my hair looked like in natural lighting, very orange!

Here are the results, sorry for the un-styled, unruly hair, it had just been washed.

I can give a very positive review for Colour B4 as it took the shade of my hair SO much lighter, it was almost blonde. I would suggest picking up a moisturising hair mask to tackle the dying out that it causes.

It is a long process as you have to leave the treatment on for an hour, then wash with the buffer provided twice but it's well worth it.

Pros

Lightens your hair a crazy amount

Not too pricey, compared to salon stripping treatments

Easy to get hold of

Good step by step instructions provided

Cons

Smells like eggs

Slightly drying to your hair

Takes around 2 hours to complete the process.

I would recommend this to anyone looking to get rid of any unwanted hair colour, be warned though you will need two hair dyes if you want to change to another colour.

Sk:n Vitamin Rich Cleanser for Oily Skin

In my last post, I mentioned the Sk:n Vitamin Rich Cleanser, I felt like a review was in order. I found it’s better to use with my No7 Cleansing Brush than my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish!

My house mate Jen, who suffers from terrible acne and scarring was trying out the local Sk:n dermatologist* at the Sk:n Clinic in Southampton, they had given her a step by step cleansing routine and a set of products to tackle her skin. They recommended the Anti Blemish Solutions which were on a 3 for 2 offer, she picked me out the Sk:n Vitamin Rich Cleanser for me as part of the offer, (thanks Jen!).

I started using it properly after my Cleanse and Polish didn't quite leave my skin feeling as squeaky clean as I would have liked. You need the tiniest pea sized amount as it lathers up really quickly. I apply it to my face just after I have splashed it with some warm water. Then I use my No7 Cleansing Brush to work the product in and get a really good clean, then finish with a cold splash of water.

Pros

I really love the deep clean I get from this product.

Lathers up really quickly.

Don't need to use much, pea sized amount is enough.

Keeps my acne and oily skin settled.

Cons

Don't get it in your mouth, tastes horrible, haha!

I'll be giving feedback about Jen's full Anti-Blemish Solution routine, the results and her experience with the Sk:n Clinic in the near future.

No7 Cleansing Brush Review After 6 Weeks Use

I know I haven't really been posting beauty related content in the last few weeks, in all honesty I'm addicted to fashion blogs at the moment. I go through fazes of spending my wages on wardrobe updates or the latest beauty releases. To get back into the swing of it I've decided to review the No7 Cleansing Brush. I've been using it every day for 6 weeks now.

I detailed my initial thoughts in a blog post. In a quick summary, I wasn't sure on the rotating scrubbing sensation, it was very strange! I did notice immediately that my skin felt smoother.

After 6 weeks of  testing I'm ready to feedback my results. I used my Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish for the most part, but also tried Soap and Glory's Peaches and Clean and Sk:n's Vitamin Rich Cleanser just to see what different results I achieved.

I'm not sure I like my Cleanse and Polish with the No7 Cleansing Brush, it doesn't lather so I felt as if I was just moving the balm like product around my face, not doing much. I have a big bottle that I'm eager to use up so I'll keep trying with it.

The best results I found were from lathering washes like the one from Sk:n and Soap and Glory. These gave that fresh clean feel to my skin and the lather showed me it was really working.

Have a seen any amazing results? No

Sadly this hasn't worked miracles but I do still like it. The Cleansing Brush really does make my skin feel a lot smoother. I haven't noticed an improvement with acne scarring but I've happy with it getting rid of lumps and bumps.

Would I recommend this No7 Cleansing Brush?

Yes I would, I bought mine on the £15 introductory price and it's now £25, I would still purchase it though.

I will probably never go back to just using my hands and some product to wash.

Fashion Find #1: River Island Rose Gold Watch

After reading the Burning Blonde's blog post on the River Island Rose Gold watch I knew I had to get my hands on it. Sadly everyone had snapped up the Michael Kors dupe and everywhere was sold out. Last week I was just browsing ASOS and spotted it. I clicked add to basket without a second thought.

The watch was £25 but with student discount using UniDays it came to £22.50, that's around 10% of the price of the Michael Kors version.
