A/W Essentials #1: Printed Trousers

With Autumn fast approaching, brands are filling their shelves with chunky knits, jackets and printed trousers. I can't wait to fill my wardrobe with these items!
Flicking through ASOS I came across so many beautiful pairs of trousers. I'm usually a leggings kinda girl, (I find jeans uncomfortable) but they don't quite cut it during winter so I will be opting for printed trousers.
Opulence is a huge trend this season and I think a good pair of printed trousers teamed with a crisp shirt and a statement necklace and double cuffs will tick the trend box. It's an excellent way to wear the trend without going overboard. Here are some of my favourites, whether you want to save or splurge!

Nail Art: Prep and My Favourite Designs

It seems everyone from Olympians to celebrities have jumped on the nail art band wagon. The nails are a bare canvas in which we can express ourselves it seems!

Here are some of my nail art preparation tips:

1. Apply a good hand exfoliant, pretty and soft hands are the start for nail art. This one by Pretty Hands exfoliates with no need to wash your hands after. The formula breaks down as you massage it in, leaving you with pretty pinkies!

2. The most common error when people file their nails is that they pull the emery board back and forwards furiously. The back and forward motion weakens nails, so use single strokes in the same direction until you get your desired nail shape.

3. Laziness or lack of time means people will not apply a base coat, but using one prevents the nail from staining after using dark polishes. It also helps create a perfect flat base for the polish and increase the longevity of the colour.

4. Choose a shade to create a base for your designs. Apply carefully and leave the layer dry before adding any more coats.

5. Once all the nail polish coats are dry you can start your nail art design. Topshop have nail art pencil in style of felt tips and WAH nails also have their own pens. You can also search eBay for nail art pens and tools.

6. Apply a top coat to seal the design in and dab a cotton bud in nail vanish remover to clean up any mistakes and voila!

Here's some inspiration for your designs...

Holiday Essentials

Rain, rain, go away, come back another day! For all you lucky people who are escaping the miserable British weather this summer, I thought I'd give you a guide to my holiday essentials - a little shopping list, if you like!

1. Topshop Exaggerated Cats Eye Sunglasses - £16
Let out your inner retro goddess with a pair of cat's eye sunglasses. I love this pair from Topshop, they come in a cute candy pink or pastel mint shade. Whether you're on a city break or lounging around the pool, these sunnies are perfect.

2. Delph Sun Lotion - Available from Independent Pharmacies
I have extremely pale skin, I always end up red as a lobster when on holiday but I think it's time to invest in a good sun cream. Delph has a range of sun lotions that span from factor 50 to 8. Their products are on the UK Drug Tariff, which means it can be prescribed by GP's, if it's good enough for a doctor it will be good enough for me! With built in moisturisers, shea butter and coconut oil, you can keep your skin lovely and soft while having reliable sun protection. I recommend slapping this stuff on and avoiding the hours that the sun is at it's highest. Stay safe in the sun!

3. Topshop Black Floral One Piece - £32
I'm a fan of one pieces, I'm not always body confident so a one piece is a great way to cover the wobble bits. I love this one from Topshop, ticking two trend boxes - floral and retro inspired. You may also want a cute cover up, this Topshop White Embellished one is adorable, team with sandals to take you from the pool to the bar.

4. Laura Mercier Oil Free Tinted Moisturiser - £33
Light coverage tinted moisturisers are ideal for hot weather, no one wants to be wearing a mask of make-up while in the sun, melting face is not a good look!

5. Max Factor Waterproof False Lash Effect Mascara - £9- £10ish
Your favourite waterproof mascara will keep panda eyes at bay. I adore Max Factor False Lash Effect so the waterproof one would be my only choice for this.

What are your holiday essentials?

STYLE CRUSH: Miley Cyrus

Since her recent weight loss all eyes have been on the former Disney star Miley Cyrus. I have serious face, body and style envy over this girl!

Here is how I would recreate her looks:

ASOS Shirt With Check Print £25
Miley has teamed a red check shirt with a oversized white dress and converse for her signature style of casual cool.

Moto Indigo Kristen High Waist Jeans £40
Miley is wearing the American Apparel Easy Jeans, but with a price tag of £64 I don't think I'll be purchasing them any time soon. Topshop has a cheaper waisted jean for £40, saving £24!

ASOS Vest in Stripe £5
A plain stripe tee is perfect staple that should be in everyone's wardrobe, dress it up with a blazer or make it casual like Miley and team it with some leggings.

Is Miley your style crush too?
